Housing

Accommodation for CESP students is provided in the Jarov III. G student dormitory about 20 minutes by tram from the university building.

Jarov III.G dormitory
Jarov III. G
is situated in the campus at Jarov in the town district Praha 3 about 100 metres from the Koněvova street at the corner of the Jeseniova and Biskupcova street. The look-out of the room’s window offers the view to the green vegetation of the campus and to the housing blocks at Jarov. Each room has a balcony.
There is a tram stop Strážní in the vicinity (tram #9). The address of the dormitory is Kolej Jarov III. G, Jeseniova 1954/210, 130 00 Praha 3.

Students are assigned to stay in the room with a person of the same sex. The structure of the flat units is 2+2 (double-bed rooms which are located in 2-room flat units). Every flat unit consists of a kitchen with a cupboard (with cooking utensils and dishes), an electric hot plate, a microwave oven and a fridge. A bathroom with a shower, 2 wash-basins and separated WC is also located inside the flat. All rooms for CESP students were reconstructed in 2015.

Equipment

There are quilts and pillows with bed linen available in each room (students can ask for clean bed linen twice a month). There are basic dishes, pans or eating utensils provided. There is a laundry room in each dormitory. In the block III.G there is a gym and fitness center (entry with a special card which is available at the reception desk).

Some other equipment can be borrowed for a minimum fee from the reception e.g. iron, vacuum cleaner, balls (volleyball, basketball), ping pong, grill etc.

There is a connection to the University of Economics computer network for every student. A wifi connection enables communication with parents and friends at home.

Arrival

Your accommodation will be available (free of additional charge) to you 5 days before the Orientation week starts and 5 days after the official end of the program. However, the end date may be shortened because of Christmas holidays at the end of the Fall semester. In this case, the last day of the dormitories will be specified in the Welcome letter you receive once accepted.

This applies to the Summer university as well: Your accommodation will be available (free of additional charge) to you 5 days before the Summer University starts and 5 days after the official end of the program.

Students can move in every day, even during weekend or evening. After the arrival you will arrange all necessary formalities (signing the accommodation agreement, picking up the dormitory ID card ).

In case you arrived by car, you will need to pay for parking by yourself. CESP doesn't cover this kind of cost! For more information please contact the dormitory manager.

Living outside the dormitory

Accommodation in private apartments is rather expensive in Prague and CESP students do not pursue this option often.

For living outside the dormitory, you have to consider owner´s offer of short term or long term accommodation. It entirely depends on the owner which term he is able to offer you.

CESP offers every student possibility of accommodation at the dormitories, therefore we are not able to give you a help hand with searching and arranging accommodation outside the dormitories..

To give you some idea of what is available and for how much, here are some current listings:

  • Zizkov, Prague 3, flat 1+1, 45 m2,furnished, English speaking landlady, 10,000 CZK /month + utilities
  • Karlovo nam., Prague 2, newly decorated, fully furnished apt 4+1, 190 m2, sauna, 3 toilets, big storage, parking place, 2,750 euro/ month incl. utilities
  • Praha 1 – centre, small flat 1+0, 9,000 CZK

Note: Agents usually charge a fee of one month’s rent for a one-year lease. However, if you take it for a shorter term, you can negotiate a lower fee.

Dining

For lunch and dinner you may take advantage of the student cafeterias located at the University or in the dormitory area. Hot meals usually include soup, main dish and drink.
